JAV glossary — A to Z
JAV glossary — A to Z

Below is an alphabetized, detailed glossary of common terms, tags and abbreviations you’ll see in Japanese Adult Video (JAV) metadata and descriptions. Definitions are informational and non-graphic. Many tags describe staged scenarios or fetishes — always remember legality and performer consent matter.
A
-
AV (Adult Video) — General abbreviation for Japanese adult video works. Often used interchangeably with “JAV.”
-
Anal (アナル, “anaru”) — Sexual activity involving the anus. In AV tagging this indicates anal scenes.
-
Amateur / Shiroto (素人) — “Amateur” performers (or productions marketed as amateurs). Some so-called amateurs are genuine newcomers; others are produced to appear amateurish.
B
-
Bukkake (ぶっかけ) — A group scene where multiple performers ejaculate onto one person (face/chest/body).
-
BDSM — Broad category covering bondage, discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism. Tags will often specify elements (bondage, domination, etc.).
-
Blowjob / Fellatio (フェラ) — Oral sex performed on a penis — commonly tagged as “fellatio,” “blowjob,” or the Japanese loanword.
C
-
Cunnilingus (クンニ) — Oral sex performed on a vulva.
-
Chijo (痴女) — “Perverted woman” — a character type that is sexually aggressive or dominant. Often translates as “female seductress / sex-driver.”
-
Chikan (痴漢) — Train/commuter groping scenario. Usually a staged roleplay of public molestation.
-
Creampie / Nakadashi (中出し) — Internal ejaculation (ejaculation inside the vagina). “Creampie” is common English tag; “nakadashi” is the Japanese term.
D
-
Deep throat / Iramachio (イラマチオ) — Aggressive oral sex involving deep gagging or throat penetration. Often presented as a more intense oral performance.
-
Dual-camera / POV — Filming style: point-of-view/first-person shots or multiple angles.
E
-
Ecchi / Ero (エロ / えっち) — Soft-core or suggestive sexual content; “ecchi” is a lighter sexual term often used for erotic but non-explicit material.
-
Exclusive / Tantai (単体女優) — When an actress is promoted as a solo or exclusive star (a contracted or high-profile performer), productions may be labeled accordingly.
F
-
Fellatio (フェラ) — See Blowjob.
-
FC2 — Popular Japanese video-sharing / uploader platform (often hosts user-uploaded or uncensored content).

-

H
-
Hitozuma (人妻) — “Married woman” — scenes depicting or themed around married women/wives.

-
Iramachio — See Deep Throat (common transliteration).
J
-
JK (女子高生, Joshi Kōsei) — “High-school girl” aesthetic. Important: reputable producers must use adult actresses; this tag refers to the schoolgirl look or roleplay, not actual minors. Many jurisdictions ban content that sexualizes real minors — exercise legal caution.
-
Jukujo (熟女) — “Mature woman” / older actress (similar to “MILF” in English).
-
JAV — Short for “Japanese AV” — same as AV but emphasizing origin.
K
-
Kikaku Tantai (企画単体) — “Project” style releases that center around a concept or gimmick rather than a single big star; often use non-exclusive or lesser-known actresses.
-
Koukan / Kounai? — (less common) there are many subgenre words starting with K that describe production types or series names.
L
-
Loli / Lolita (ロリ) — “Childlike” or very young-looking aesthetic. As with “JK,” legally and ethically sensitive — many platforms and laws restrict or prohibit sexualized depictions of minors or minor-lookalikes.
-
Lesbian / Rezu (レズ) — Female–female scenes; “rez” or “les” are common tags.
M
-
Mosaic (モザイク) — The pixelation/censoring applied to genitalia in official Japanese releases. Legally required in Japan; “no mosaic” or “uncensored” indicates the mosaic has been removed (often produced/distributed outside Japan).

-
M-type / M女 / M男 — “Masochist” tags for characters who enjoy receiving pain/humiliation.
N

Nakadashi (中出し) — See Creampie. A very common tag in Japanese metadata.

-
Netori (寝取り) — The reverse angle: the aggressor who steals someone’s partner; also used as a tag.
O
-
OL (Office Lady) — Portrayal of female office workers; a common roleplay theme.
-
Orgy / Ranko (乱交) — Group sex scenes involving multiple partners.
-
Outcall / On-location — Production contexts (less a tag, more a production note).
P
-
POV (Point of View) — Filming style made to look from one performer’s eyes; immersive technique.
-
Preview / Sample — Short clips or images released to advertise the full title. Many sites show a preview mosaic and short scenes.

R
-
Rape / Rape roleplay (レイプ) — Depictions of non-consensual sex or forced scenarios. In AV, these are typically acted roleplays; however, they are ethically and legally sensitive and explicitly illegal in real life. Many productions handle this as simulated/consensual acting.
-
Ranko (乱交) — See Orgy.
-
Raw — Unprocessed footage/file; sometimes used to mean uncensored original source.
S
-
S-type / S女 / S男 — “Sadist” tags for characters who dominate or inflict punishment. Paired with M tags frequently.

-
Sokuhame (即ハメ) — See Quickie.
T
-
Te-koki (手コキ) — Handjob; manual stimulation performed by hand.

-
Tsumami? — (various niche tags beginning with T exist for fetish styles and production series).

Z
-
Zenra (全裸) — “Completely nude” — describes full nudity (as opposed to partial or implied nudity).
-
Z-series / Z-level — Some studios or distributors use lettered series names; not a universal tag but may appear in catalogs.
Quick cross-references & notes
-
“Nakadashi” = “creampie”; “Gansha” = “facial”; “Bukkake” = multiple ejaculations.
-
“Shiroto / Amateur” and “Tantai / Exclusive” describe performer status (amateur vs. professional/exclusive star).
-
“Mosaic” vs “Uncensored”: Japanese domestic releases are usually mosaicked; “uncensored” versions are distributed outside Japan or illegally.
-
Many scenario tags (JK, rape, chikan, loli, etc.) describe roleplay and can carry legal/ethical implications — real minors, non-consensual acts, and illegal content are prohibited and dangerous in real life.
Legal & ethical reminder (brief)
-
Tags like JK, loli, rape, chikan refer to sexualized roleplay or aesthetics; they must not involve real minors or non-consenting people. Laws vary by country — always follow local regulations and platform terms. Respect performer consent, age verification, and copyrights.
-
Uncensored content produced within Japan is generally illegal; many uncensored files circulating online are unauthorized uploads.
